Description: A coastal or inland flat area characterised by extensive salt flats or salt pans . Sabkhas are formed through the evaporation of seawater or groundwater, leaving behind deposits of salt and other minerals. Salt accumulates in a Sabkha as the result of semi-arid to arid climate. The Sabkha is mostly covered with sand or fine alluvial mud which acts as a quicksand, which makes the Sabkha hazardous to people and vehicles moving across its surface. A Sabkha may have a Name.
