Description: An area of ground designed and maintained for the movement of pedestrians, bicycles or e-mobility devices, and not for vehicular use. A Pedestrian Thoroughfare is distinct from a Road as the Pedestrian Thoroughfare has not been constructed for the purpose of carrying vehicular traffic. In Urban and Semi-urban areas, a Pedestrian Thoroughfare is usually constructed of asphalt, concrete, or gravel depending upon its function and the amount of pedestrian traffic it is expected to carry.
Description: A barrier designed to prevent unintended or unauthorised passage of pedestrians, animals or vehicles. Unlike a Wall, Fences are usually made of wood, wire, rails or other relatively light material, and do not have a solid foundation along its whole length. There will be at least one Gate in a Fence.

Description: A barrier that can be opened and closed, locked or unlocked, or lowered to block an entrance. Gates may prevent or control entry or exit, or they may be merely decorative.
Description: A solid barrier, normally a linear (or curved) permanent structure that hinders or prevents ground movement by people, vehicles or animals. It is long in relation to its width, and thicker than the somewhat similar Fence. Walls will tend to be straighter than fences. A Sea wall will be constructed to protect land from erosion by the Sea, and forms part of the Shoreline.

Description: Mangroves. Status: Critical Habitat within Abu Dhabi emirate.Location: Within Abu Dhabi emirate, the distribution of this habitat type from east to west is from near Khalifa Port, with higher densities of this habitat around the islands to the east and west of Abu Dhabi Island. Mangrove habitats are also found along the coast heading westward, with a gradual decline in density. This habitat is also found in intertidal areas on islands such as Abu Al Abyadh, Marawah, Bu Tinah and Sir Bani Yas.Description: This habitat consists of inter-tidal areas dominated by the Grey Mangrove (Avicennia marina), and includes both natural and planted mangrove sites. It is a critical habitat for many bird, and fish species, acting as a nursery for the juvenile fish, as well as providing other ecosystem services such as coastal protection and aesthetic value. The mangrove root systems stabilise the underlying sediment, which is rich in nutrients from decaying leaves and wood, and home to sponges, worms, crustaceans, molluscs and algae. The habitat is home to small crabs; fish species; and bird species operating on the periphery of the mangroves including the migratory Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus). Mangroves are considered a “Blue Carbon” habitat type because it is a coastal and marine habitat that is able to sequester and store carbon.

Description: A coastal or inland flat area characterised by extensive salt flats or salt pans . Sabkhas are formed through the evaporation of seawater or groundwater, leaving behind deposits of salt and other minerals. Salt accumulates in a Sabkha as the result of semi-arid to arid climate. The Sabkha is mostly covered with sand or fine alluvial mud which acts as a quicksand, which makes the Sabkha hazardous to people and vehicles moving across its surface. A Sabkha may have a Name.
Description: The Coastline is the line that designates the boundary between the land and the Sea. The Coastline is represented by a set of lines determined by different tidal levels. The Coastline is a combination of rocky, sandy and shelly shorelines, cliffs, the closing line of a Creek, and any edges of reclaimed areas not captured as Other Features such as Walls, Breakwaters and Piers.
